Pearl/CookieBio: We would like to introduce you to two wonderful ladies who have had a pretty rough life so far.  About 6 years ago, Pearl was bought from a Lancaster, PA puppy mill by an irresponsible breeder and used for backyard breeding, having a litter of puppies EVERY cycle--twice a year--over and over.  Her 5-yr-old daughter, Cookie, has a white face and is from her first breeding to a border collie.  Cookie was also used for breeding by the same backyard breeder.

Well, you know what they say about karma… In 2011, the breeder was evicted from his home in rural PA and he left the dogs behind.  A good samaritan neighbor took the girls in and cared for them the best she could for nearly 3 months before contacting GoldHeart.

Pearl/CookieWhen they arrived into the welcoming arms of GoldHeart, both Pearl and Cookie were in need of a good  “spa day” and they were quickly scheduled for “spay day” and will never have to worry about falling into the hands of a backyard breeder again!  They both tested positive for Lyme disease and will receive antibiotic treatment for 30 days.

Pearl and Cookie have always been together and we would love for them to stay together.

These amazing girls are very sweet and loving, good with children, and housebroken.  They have never been crated, foster mom uses baby gates in the home and they have not tested the gates.  They have been perfect houseguests in their foster home and love the chance to curl up beside you on the sofa for a nap.

They are learning not to jump up on people.  Both are walking well on leash, and although Cookie will sometimes pull on leash, she listens to correction.  Both are calm and quiet in the car and know “sit” and “shake.”
