Rescues of the Month

August 2008 ~ Meet Marigold

Gender: Female

Age:  10+ years

Location:  Georgia

Rescue Group:  Adopt a Golden Atlanta

Out of State Adoptions:  Yes

Bio:  Meet Marigold, a 10+ year-old purebred female golden who we found waiting patiently in a lonely shelter run hours from death. When they let her out and we clapped our hands for her, she galloped right over to us. She is sweet and humble. She is in pretty bad shape with some skin issues and it is apparent she has been neglected. She also has heartworms and needs a sponsor ($500). She also needs a foster family to give her some much needed love. Marigold is a wonderful senior golden who is gentle and loving and is so appreciative of any attention she gets. She so deserves to be cared for and loved in her senior years. We gave her a pretty name because we know she will be pretty again in no time (and she has a beautiful soul).

UPDATE: She is coming along nicely, with her health improving.  She's being treated for a thyroid condition, and her coat is looking better every day.

UPDATE #2: Marigold asked us if she could have Halloween treat and we got her the best treat a sweet girl could ever want. Marigold has a great new mom and a wonderful golden sister! Mom is a teacher who has a huge soft spot for seniors and when she met Marigold she couldn't let her go. Now Marigold will go home to live with mom and Hannah. Hannah is an angel too, she is a 9 year old golden girl with only 3 legs. Marigold really got the perfect treat, she's beautiful again and even better - she is so very loved.

August 2008 ~ Meet Chloe

Gender: Female

Age:  4 years

Location:  Georgia

Rescue Group:  Atlanta Dog Squad (ADS)

Out of State Adoptions:  Yes, in some cases.

Bio:  Chloe is a beautiful and unique girl. She has the body of a Rottweiler - including the docked tail - combined with the coat and personality of a Golden Retriever. She's amazing. Our volunteers describe her as "very, very sweet."  Chloe adores children and other dogs, and she walks on a loose leash with a calm demeanor. She is an ideal partner for anyone interested in doing therapy work such as visiting nursing homes with a dog; her easygoing temperament and docked tail give her a big advantage for those types of situations.

Chloe is steadily losing the excess weight she was carrying upon entering our program, and she's looking more trim every day.  She's proving to be quite smart in addition to super-affectionate. Chloe is an overall sweetheart in every way!
