BertRescue of the Month

March 2011 ~ Meet Bert

Gender: Male

Age: 8 years

Location: Greenville, South Carolina

Rescue Group: Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue (FHGRR)

Out of State Adoptions: Yes

BertBio: Bert is approximately 8 years old.  He is calm and affectionate. When Bert came into the program, he was diagnosed with heartworms, so on February 8, he received heartworm treatment.  Bert has tolerated his convalescence well, and he will be able to go for short walks in a couple of weeks. He likes nothing better than to hang out with his Foster Dad, and he gets along well with the other dogs.  Bert travels well in the car.  He has good house manners, is house-trained, and is an easy boy to take care of.

Recently, Bert had surgery to remove a growth in his mouth, as well as a tooth. Diagnosis revealed that the growth was cancerous. All of the cancerous tissue was removed, but it is possible that at some point, Bert could experience it again.
